Anatomy Scan yesterday! (pic heavy)

So, we had our anatomy scan yesterday.  And it went well!  Seemed like everything that was supposed to be there, was… and nothing that wasn’t supposed to be there, wasn’t. 😉  Baby’s heart is about the size of a pencil eraser, but we could still see 4 distinct chambers!  This was a particular concern of mine, because I know two special heart babies (and their amazing mamas ❤ ).

Anyway, after a while and a ton of pictures, the tech had me get up to pee and move around to get some better angles of baby, and find out the sex!  Here it is:

Serenity Now

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Wow, two posts in two days?  What’s up with that! 😉

So I was on Facebook yesterday, and I saw one of my friends post on Cheri22’s page.  For those of you who don’t know, Cheri22 is an Email-based “psychic,” specializing in pregnancy sorts of things.

Back in my early months on the message boards, I saw lots of “My Cheri22 prediction!” posts, and “Cheri22 was right!” or “JennyRenny [another so-called “psychic”] was right!”  So, in my eternal optimism, I bought a reading from Cheri22.  Seeing her pop up on Facebook, I decided to go back and read her prediction.

Dated 4/1/11: “They show you guys having a little girl and they relate her to APRIL so this is either birth month, conceive month or the month you find out in.”
Hmm.  Nope.  Though, I suppose this isn’t too far off from my miscarriage, which had an EDD of May 1st.  But yeah, she predicts birth month, conceive month, or month you find out… and was still wrong.  I’m now due in November, conceived in February, and found out in March.  Anyway, the reading goes on to describe lots of generic personality traits, a lot of which apply to me, so are entirely feasible.  Blah blah blah.

Then a little while later, I decided to get a reading from JennyRenny.
Dated 7/2/11: “Your reading reveals that your BFP news comes the month of July from a cycle that begins in June. The baby shows as a girl and her EDD/birth date is referenced the month of March 2012 – specific reference to the 11th and 17th.”
Wrong again!!  Even if you look at the miscarriage, I conceived and found out in August, and was due in May 2012.

So, I guess the moral of the story is, if you want to spend $5 for a little fun, and to have some “psychic” tell you what you want to hear, go ahead.  Maybe they’ll get it right — even a broken clock is right twice a day!  I’m just amused to see those now.

And, just for fun, and because I’m bored, the Chinese gender predictor also says I’m having a girl.  At least the one on BabyCenter.  The one on TheBump says Boy, but it doesn’t calculate lunar age….  Anyway, it’s all in good fun.  We’ll find out in 6 days!!

Movement, and more waiting – 17 weeks

So I started feeling movement a little over a week ago.  I guess closer to two weeks now, since it was last Saturday.  I know that’s relatively early to feel it, but there it was, this tiny little buzzing feeling in my uterus. 🙂  I really can’t wait until baby’s movements are enough that Andrew can feel.

One week from today we have our Anatomy Scan.  At this point it’s been 5 weeks since we saw baby, and it’ll be 6 weeks for the A/S.  But, we heard the heartbeat, and I even got a Doppler so I could hear it at home.  And the movement helps remind me that he/she is still there, and presumably ok in there.

I still feel like there’s so much we need to do to get ready for baby.  We did a little in the nursery, super early.  It’s so cute, though, we couldn’t resist.  Waiting to find out the sex to do a little more decorating.  But I feel like I haven’t even looked at strollers, or cribs, or… lots and lots of other stuff.  We want to cloth diaper, but I any time I look at info about it, I’m incredibly overwhelmed.

And, of course, the house is messy.  It usually is.  We’re having a summer + “half baked” party in a few weeks, so, stuff needs to get moving in that direction.  Of course, as with any time we clean, I say “hopefully we can keep it this way now!”  Well, this time it seems extra important.  We are not neat people, but I refuse to raise my child in a messy house.  Err, a slovenly house that seems like two bachelors live here, I fully expect baby-related mess that I will be trying to stay on top of.

And today Babies R Us has a great coupon for 20% off your entire purchase, only good through Saturday.  If I had a crib or stroller or otherwise large purchase picked out, it would be perfect.  But I don’t.  And I wish it was next weekend, when we should know the sex, and can buy more specific stuff…..  First world problems, huh?

Sorry this post has been a mish mosh of random.  That’s what’s going through my brain these days.

In other news, I got Andrew this for Father’s Day:

I Love My Daddy This Much Infant Bodysuit

Good thing he doesn’t read my blog! 🙂
